Hi, just wondered what people's experiences have been like with these apps in terms of being a furtive fellow or fille and not getting chucked out of shops/banned for taking pics or whatever?

How's it been for you?

Cheers

Stick to the big supermarkets and well known chains you will be fine. Sometimes its best to ditch the being stealthy part and just sign in as a visitor and then you can snap away unhindered.

Small independent shops are much more resistant to people checking their stock and prices and will sometimes assume you are from a competitor spying on them and ask you to leave.

I personally wouldn't even consider doing petrol stations or corner shops.

I've been caught a handful of times in supermarkets. It happens, just brush it off and onto the next task!

Like others have said don't bother with small stores, you don't stand a chance!

Have they ever banned you from the store?

I've never signed in for a supermarket but understand it can make tasks less stressful.

I just go with being bold. Lots of people snap pictures in shops now for their own reference and staff are getting more and more used to it as time goes on. I get a few funny looks, but nobody has ever challenged me. (yet!)
My daughter is always snapping pictures in shops and sending them to me to see if I want her to buy the item for me lol.

Thanks. Probably just fretting wondering whether is was best to tell staff first!

Cheers

Time for me to roll out the "tin of beans" tale well posted here hehe... I have been so far never caught, as others say stick to the big superstores..staff generally dont bat an eyelid at you...lots of folk take pics in stores (oh sending my poor sick aunt pics to decide which Now TV she wants) LOL.. one tip i used to do, was wear the wee headphones you get with phones... the way you hold your phone when talking with someone is natural position for taking pics..plus in many the answer button can be set to be shutter release, so its much easier taking pics... So, to "bean-gate"..many regulars here know this story.. i live in Glasgow where our small independent shop keepers may not have a rough Glaswegian accent if you follow me? but they are nutters though, they are very watchful of you in their shop, so one day armed with my Roamler LOA (Letter of Authority... or aka chocolate fireguard) went into one, introduced myself and was there to take pics of POS, guy assumes i am there to get his prices and give to Imran down the road, shouts some stuff in foreignish...out comes his burly friends from the back, am told in not so polite manner to leave, so, i do, with these guys bearing down my neck and all shouting foreignish sweary words am sure, then a wizz past my ear as mr Heimz's finest baked beans tin flew past my head missing by millimetres...i run to my car and get the hell out of dodge!!! I report this to Roamler who said "oh we will report him to his superiors!! (Guy IS his superior) so the moral is dont assume the oh so official LOA will get you anywhere, and NEVER do small independent shops for a £2 pay (with bonus free beans if you can catch them!!)

Hi. Sorry to ask the obvious- so when you go to Tesco you just ask them to sign in?

Go to the customer service desk and ask for the visitors signing in book. They won't always give you a badge so if they don't, ask them for one.

They closed my account because I wasn't using it. Which was a bit mean because I was level 4 and might have dipped back into it at some time. Probably won't bother signing up again and starting fresh now though.
