Good Evening :D Here's my weekly update.

My tasks for this week were

Learn more about reditt - You get banned for spamming your own videos, so I've given up on that
Load 2 videos (10 was bit daft) - yey I uploaded 9
Put subscriber pop up boxes on top 10 videos - I did this and all my new ones, so see what difference that makes

This video here got 3000 views in the first day, so high hopes for that one (http://youtu.be/zyL37iBNJx0) The voice over cost me $10 and I did the animation myself.
I was delighted to find this gem (http://youtu.be/OYgB9K2Pcug) for the princely sum of $5, I think that one will pay for it's self fairly quick.
The most expensive video I purchased this week was (http://youtu.be/Dhy5_KvBacs) which in total cost $35.

I've subscribed to Videoblocks for a 1 week free trial, that gives me unlimited free downloads for a week. Some of the video clips are quite useful.

My exiting news is that I've ordered a new car, completely funded by Youtube, love it!!

Tasks for this week

More interaction on google & Facebook
Look out some social media courses
Do Youtube Creator Creator Academy Course - and take notes!
Do more analysis of videos to find out what makes them successful
Create 2 new videos

I hope you all have a great week

Sophie

PS Jon I'll pm you regarding the video

Here's my earnings for Feb 2014 £497.04
£389.38 Youtube Adsense earnings (276681 minutes watched)
£107.66 Website Adsense earnings (387860 page views click though rate 2.51%)
So in summary Youtube was up and the website was slightly down, but an over all increase in earnings of £45.85, nearly 10% I wouldn't mind that growth every month! Which it needs to if I'm going to hit my target of £7200, because I need to average £625 over the next 10 months to hit this.

I have done a lot of keyword ressearch over the last month, and now have a long list to work on. However I think it's the 'shareability' of the video that's actually more important.
I had my most successful video launch this month, with Grumpy Cat making 15,000 views in the first week and $10.54.

I've deleted some videos that had a low retention rate (people watched less than 40% of the video), which has altered my overall retention rate from 63 to 69% Youtube likes this and will promote channels that have good audience retention rates, something to bear in mind when creating new videos.

Something weird happened this week, my face book page went viral in Iran, with 20,000 new likes over 5 days, no idea why, but it has increased the traffic to my website a fair bit so I think March will look pretty good.

1. Objectives for April are to create new content from what I already have without spending anything
2. Be active daily on Facebook

This week, I made contact with some-one who does Google+ courses and he's running 1 in May
I completed the youtube creator academy and learned that audience retention (how long some-one watches you video for) and minutes watches are more important than views.
I spent some time looking at analytics and leant that some are much more valuable that others, talking tom video grosses $1.23 per 1000 views, whilst others are much higher like $7 - guess which ones are worth promoting more!

Have I bored you enough yet lol

No way are your posts ever boring Sophie :D!!

Thanks again for sharing all your tips. It's great to read about how you develop your ideas, and to see them flourishing and doing well for you, and also to learn with you what works and what doesn't.

:) :) Excellent stuff :) :)

Great videos Sophie & well done on buying a new car ;D

Another popular meme is Success (or Victory) Kid ... could you do anything with that?

And don't forget Monster High...that's massive. A MH Happy Birthday would be huge I reckon.

Just so I get an understanding

How many hours do you put in to get a monthly YouTube total like that?

Easier said than done on fiverr I bet lol

If I was you and I DID want to spend money on fiverr I would always spend it on content creation. Those Flash in the pan (Get you to page 1 on google) SEO promises are literally flash in the pans that Google will de rank soon enough. Content is content and will be there forever. Content can even be linked to and shared.

Deebee, what a great idea, I didn't know what a meme was til today, but now I do and it's opened up another avenue for me, thank you :)
coomassie_blu, thanks for your nice comments, I'd glad to know I didn't bore you to sleep!

Jon, actually doing useful things like researching and creating content and social media, I probably spend on average 5-6 hours a week, Non productive things like browsing forums and checking stats, probably 4 times that lol.

I did spend a bit on fiverr with my wardrobe website, buying links and seo, it worked well for a short time and I was on page 1, made a killing, then google found me out and I've been demoted to page 11 or 12 for a couple of years now, lesson learned, wouldn't touch them with a barge pole now, really I need to start the site again with a new url etc, but don't have the time.

You're are right, creating content is the key, once a video is out there is just keeps on bringing in the pennies.

How are your fiverr gigs going? selling many?

Have you thought about listing on PPH at a slightly higher price?

Hi, I think I've seen your video before, is it on fiverr? I would need something generic though, can you send me a link to them please?

Be interesting to see how you get on with PPH. It's biggest advantage that I can see as a punter is that you can charge more money for your work

March 2014 Adsense earnings

Here's my earnings for March 2014 £625.89 up from £497.04

£471.75 Youtube Adsense earnings
£154.14 Website Adsense earnings

So a good month everything up due to 2 main events

1. Uploading lots of new content
2. My facebook page going viral in Iran and driving lots of traffic to my website ( no idea why it's quite bizarre)

My main focus for April was to load new content for free, which I've been able to do by finishing half done projects and reusing voice overs in new animations. One of my fiverr.com partners has also taken to sending me free voice overs which is very generous of him. So I make sure he gets a link back on the video description.

Grumpy Cat is storming into my number 2 video slot with over 60,000 views and it's not even been up a month yet it cost me £6.60 to make and I've made £35 since it was uploaded on March 22nd. What makes that video so popular compared to the others? I only wish I could crack that nut!

I've also been diversifying a little and after doing a video for The Money Shed, (here if you haven't already seen it http://bit.ly/1hSEFh4)
I've been doing a bit of work on the survey site Viewsbank, it's one of my favorite survey sites as the surveys are short, you get paid cash and you get paid a few pence even if you're screened out. I'm even getting £10 for giving them some information about my car insurance renewal. Anyhow they have a referral link and I noticed I'd made £2 from making just 2 referrals, so of course I thought VIDEO! And here is my video for Viewsbank http://bit.ly/1jIG1iT, yes I even had to get in front of the camera for that one eek!! I'll let you know how I get on with that next time.

I've sold 2 Fiver.com gigs and made $8, not a lot but probably about 10 minutes work in total so it all helps.

I'm looking around for other things to generate an affiliate income, I'd really like to promote the Crazytalk animator software that I use in some of my videos but for some reason they've halted the affiliate program at the moment which is a bit disappointing as they pay £20 per sale commission I have written to them and they've said they'll let me know when it's back up and running.

So that's all of interest I have to update this time ;D

Your YouTube earnings are just beyond staggering so long may this continue

You are without doubt doing what I would love to do if I had the time and effort

Do you have any bigger more serious competition in terms of people trying to take your video views away from you on YouTube?

I've become very unfocussed in my money making opportunities over the last year. I think a diary will be a great point of focus for me and a way to set goals, chart my progress and create more opportunities.

I earn money through adsense on my youtube channel here https://www.youtube.com/user/GreatBirthdayIdeas and my website here http://www.great-happy-birthday-ideas.com/

These are my earnings for January 2014
£339.89 Youtube Adsense earnings
£111.30 Website Adsense earnings

My target is to top £7200 by the end of the year from the above online activity. This will take me back to where I was before a year or 2 ago, I've been there before, and there's no reason why with a bit of hardwork I can't get there again. In March I'm going to do 2 things

1. Concentrate on keyword research, I've been publishing videos this year without doing my research properly, so from now on I am going to spend more time researching a profitable topic for a video before creating and publishing it

2. Find 1 new way of marketing my videos, I already use twitter, facebook, pinterest and blogger, can anyone thing of any more?

BTW I was most exited to discover today that my Youtube channel had been mentioned in Martin Lewis's (the green site) Weekly email a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately they didn't link to my channel, just mentioned it.

Had a read of your blog, good content, is sure to rank highly given an amount of time and enough backlinks to it (maybe via every video you publish?)

Thanks, you're right I need to link to it!

A bit of an update, have topped 12,000 Youtube subscribers this week - makes me happy :D. Also I'm in discussions with a video birthday card website about an advertising/affiliate opportunity on my channel. I can't believe they don't have their own Youtube channel!!

And I notice fiverr.comm are looking for newsworthy stories, so I might get in touch with them to see if they'd be interested in mine, it's a bit of free publicity.

God your updates are just fascinating. You really are 'in the zone' with all this at the moment.

I think sometimes that being able to think in a creative fashion in terms of approach and marketing even if you are not that creative yourself is a huge factor on if you will be successful or not at what you are doing.
