Now standing at almost £100 but having the money all over the place is a bit stressful! I need to work out a proper system for recording where it all is.

When I win at the bookies, I'm withdrawing the money to top up betfair, is that right? I guess I'll have to top up Smarkets now and again too or I won't be able to lay bets there.

There's one bookies causing a minor irritation..... 3 times it's had my documents and still can't verify me. They're scanned and everyone else seems happy so not sure what the issue is there. I'll have to insist on a decent explanation next time or I won't be able to get my money out.

Lots of beginner offers still to do but I'm taking my time and making sure I do it properly.

Also signed up with Prolific Academic but not had anything yet. I'm not too worried, between MB and my OU essay being due I've enough to think about for now!
Use Ultimatcher to track your bets. You can see where your money is and all the profits you have made.
There is a Beginners Guide on Jon's Blog here:

Thanks but it doesn't work on mac ::)

Just placed my largest bet yet, £50, so feeling a bit frazzled! I need to wait till this afternoon to see how that goes and wait for the freebie.

I feel as though I'm building up reeeaaally slooooowly but having checked when I started, it's only been 5 days! Weird.

Will now spend the rest of the day studying to try and keep my mind off the money.

Thanks [member=143]auntygeek[/member] ;D

I bet on the footie today with £50 and won £80 plus my stake back.... result! Just a shame it didn't go into the exchange cos I didn't have enough left to bet higher odds with my free £50 bet.

Now waiting for another £50 freebie to be added. I'm getting the hang of it I think, not sure about casino's/slots yet, it seems much easier to get carried away with those. We'll see.

I'm posting a lot just to keep myself on track and motivated till I can start recording some proper figures.

slow and steady wins the race :) sounds like you're doing great.

Slots will always be there - get the hang of the betting first then try some of the no risk offers on PA where you get free spins without depositing etc. They're a bit of a rollercoaster and yes you can't get carried away - but it's the same temptation as betting without laying. Always stick to the offer and you'll be okay :)

I personally have made over £500 net from slots in the last 3 months. That includes a £50 and £65 loss on two offers.... Like I said, rollercoaster! You don't have to do ANY of the slots offers that aren't no risk so stick with what you feel comfortable first :)

Not much progress made despite it being a fantastic betting week!

I foolishly placed bets on football matches, the last of which ends tomorrow evening, so I don't have clear money in the exchange to lay. Probably for the best really, considering how confused some of the pro's are getting over on the main MB thread.

I'm going to calculate my profits after the match tomorrow and then try completing aunty geek's spreadsheet from then on. Till then, I have an essay to finish and I need to continue planning my blog.... not convinced I'll have enough to put in it long term if I don't get it right.

Hope everyone's doing well ;D

Just placed my largest FB ..... absolutely nail biting having over £600 tied up in the exchange. I had to transfer money from my current account to cover some of it but once the match is done, I'll send it straight back. My brain says it'll all be fine but my anxiety rises at the mere thought of losing that money (even though I know if I've done it right I won't). Just hope I've done it right ???

Anyway, plodding on through the beginners offers still. I've not totalled my profit but it should be round about £220 after today.

I figure if I do all the beginners stuff slowly and really get to grips with it, I'll get faster later. Now's not the time to get blasé

I'll do a proper total at the end of the month which'll be 3 weeks MB.

I've noticed you've used the term "anexiety"

The one thing I can say to help you with that is that matched betting is NOT emotional AT ALL

it is just boring boring math

Bet - lay - profit

That's it

Normal gambling has emotion involved but matched betting is just all about the numbers so you need to keep thinking about it in that way

You do get used to Matched Betting though I still get a bit of a panic feeling when I place a bet and lay it off. I know I have done it correctly but still I have that slight bit of worry that something will go wrong so am always glad and relieved when the bet has settled and it is all OK.[emoji4]

Grr, what are the odds of me wining £600 at the bookies with my free bet? They aren't gonna be happy with that! Plus, I now have to wait for the money to get back to my account so I can send some back to the exchange.

No more betting for me this weekend ;D

Hey jackie,

Top tip that i missed when I started matched betting was to use a cashback site like quidco to get some of your money back as well :)

Good luck, it sucks owing family money :(

Right, I have my money back ;D

Have calculated I'm now at just over £200. Slow I know, but I'd rather do that than make mistakes. I'll speed up once I start doing the slots and casino offers!

I'm now trying to withdraw all my money from the bookies. I'll then put a new card on them from my basic bank account and keep everything separate. Why's everything so time consuming, just want to get on with it.

In other news, I joined prolific academic but not a sniff of a survey yet. Think I'm too old for them! Govuk has lots of surveys which I do every time they email me. You get points which you can exchange for an Amazon voucher. Unfortunately its something like 500000 points for £50. Might make it by Christmas at 50 points a survey.

Still trying to set up my blog, well, more deciding on the best way to do it. Gotta think long term too.

Still aiming for £500 from MB for the end of March..... optimistic me ;D

Not totalled up for this month yet..... another 2 days ;D

A couple of slip ups..... I did get a bit panicky when I placed a bet, laid on BF, went back to the bet and despite confirming it was then declined. After the initial panic, I thought about it then cashed out the BF lay for a couple of quid loss. Very pleased with myself that I eventually worked out what to do and only a minor loss. Could've been so much worse!

Also, lost a tenner on my first foray into online bingo. Again, felt awful but as it wasn't my 'own' money but money from my profit bank account it feels ok now.

Definitely don't have the constitution of a gambler.

Will be back on April Fool's Day to update with a proper total.....

Ok, the scores are in :D

I ended up with a £400 'float' and have a total of £685.88 'cash' in all accounts - so by my reckoning thats a profit of £285.88. Very happy with that, especially as it includes taking £22 for a month's PA membership. Now I've tried it, I think I'll change it to a full year from April.

Just to say, this is me being very slow and very careful with MB. I've only done 2 bingo offers, no casino offers, no reloads, most of the beginner offers and only 3 of the advanced offers.

Now I have a bigger amount of money to work with, I'll aim to speed up a bit.

I don't know if I'll get gubbed, restricted or anything else, none of us really know. I do know though that I'm going to make the very best I can of MB while it's around, why wouldn't you? ;)

It's all sounding good to me so far. I made a mess of laying a bet on Smarkets - I prefer that exchange cos I like the interface, but it is a bloody faff to cash out and re-lay! Slowly but surely is the key. I only started with about 60 quid, and then stuck another 100 in, then another 40, and it is all slow going, but it is adding up. Some of the advanced offers can be a faff when you havent got the funds there (like meeee). I am doing the bingo offers and so far seem to be doing ok. Slots for me just dont seem to work lol.
